With all of the renovations needing to be done here and the in-transition-mode  of our life right now, we decided that the girls and I needed to take a little holiday for a week so that Dan could work on some things without interruption. And so last Sunday, we loaded up into the truck and headed to New Brunswick to meet my dear high school friend who welcomed us to spend a week with her and her husband. The following pictures cover our week quite well!

First day at the beach...and they really didn't have time for pictures!

Waiting for a wave.

A favorite place during the week...the double swing.

They discovered brushing their teeth together was more fun

a gathering of friends

Ice cream!!

heading out even in the rain

she didn't last long using the umbrella.

I know, most people don't let their kids splash in puddles with no boots...

biking to the ocean

just sittin watching the waves

waves during a brief rain break one day

wind blown girl loving every minute

A felting lesson

one last beach visit

Wild blueberry picking (Cecily thought it more fun to slide down the hill)

it was a great way to pass the time after we ran out of fuel on the highway (long story).

It was a beautiful week of relaxing, playing with the girls, and filling up on good conversation. I told Dan that I had finally gotten my word quota in so I might not need to talk much for a while. It was a week filled with encouragement, rest and so many great moments both with my friend and with my girls.

And then the picture that captured the very best moment of all…

one very very very happy little girl upon seeing her daddy after our week away, she stayed like this for a long time.

Those chubby little hands could not have held her daddy much tighter.
