Thanks everyone for your suggestions on the last meal plan, there were many helpful ideas! This morning because we forgot about the time change we were up at five thirty instead of six thirty. That left me some extra time to sit down and do my meal plan first thing in the morning! I am also getting another task out of the way by planning to freeze portions for when the baby comes. At the suggestion of one dear reader, I decided that I would pop it up here again. Her suggestion was to ask others to link or share their meal plan for the week in the comments so if you have one that you would like to share please do. Or a recipe. I would also like some easy lunch (yes we call it dinner here) or snack suggestions if you have any.

You may have noticed that there is a new variety of meat this week, deer meat. It has become very important to us to buy grass-fed, non-medicated, preferably not grain finished meat. This basically means that we buy from small scale, local people and that also means that there is understandably a higher price tag. Worth it for the quality of meat if possible. Beef especially is costly but important to our diet, especially mine right now, and I was noticing that we were getting low. Not a half hour later, a neighbor drove into our yard and climbed out of his truck with a large bucket full of deer meat. What a blessing and way to stretch the beef a little further! I actually really like Deer although during pregnancy I always have this mental struggle with the smell when I cook it so I try to soak it in a vinegar marinade well in advance to remove some of the game-y taste. Any great game recipes to share?
and again…I seriously appreciate you sharing this. I will definitely take some of these ideas. Do you have a great recipe for chili? I have honestly never attempted to make it because I always hated it growing up, but in my adult life have thoroughly enjoyed eating it with homemade buns at friends’ houses.
hmm, I don’t really have a recipe, but I will pay attention when I make it this week to what and how much I put in and send you the ‘recipe’ okay?
These meals sound so homey and delicious right now! Oh man…I need to start cooking ‘real’ meals again. It’s different when Jer’s away, I just don’t go for the full effort, but meat and potatoes? Hmm…yum!
