Welcome to my new blog, Becoming Kindred! I’m glad you joined me here. Most of you will have come from my old blog, Confessions of a Young Mama and I thank you for making the switch with me. I’m a little butterflies as I get ready to make this new little place public and I am really excited to share it with you, friends.
I’ve already been doing this to some extent, but I want to write from a more holistic perspective and I want the name of my blog to capture that perspective. We’ve (Dan and I) have been working to make it so that I can post a blog more easily technically speaking; often I was spending more time trying to figure out formatting than actually writing and it was so frustrating sometimes. I also have found myself embarrassed at some of my grammatical messes and I know that I’ve gotten sloppy so I want to work on that a bit. Other than that not a lot will really change. Friends, I’d be lying if I didn’t say that sometimes I have thought about going “bigger” and gaining more of a following. As I’ve received emails here and there about reviewing or sponsoring, we even chatted about trying to make a little money from this. Really, why not get paid for something that you really enjoy and this form of community is valuable to me. However, I know myself too well and I can’t handle the pressure of trying to balance the structure that kind of blog would need and the rest of my responsibilities that I have been blessed with. I also know myself to become too easily attached to a need for affirmation that moves into the unhealthy. If this is to grow or shrink, it will do so naturally as it follows my life throbs. So to make a long story short, I’m planning to continue blogging much as I have while giving space to the soul growth that I am experiencing and longing to share.
I’m still in the process of tweaking and you will find all of my old posts from Confessions of a Young Mama on here in a bit of disarray. Thanks to my darling, Dan, for so patiently designing and helping me with my blog’s new home. I’m working on a couple of explanations as to how I chose the new name but as I welcome you here, may I say that this is an extension of my home; I want all who stop, even for a short time, to catch a breath of love and life that encourages each on their journey. Please let me know what you think and any suggestions that you have!
